Noxious weeds can increase soil erosion which can adversely affect water quality for fish, and thick stands of noxious weeds such as salt cedar or Russian olive, can make access to rivers and streams difficult.

Noxious weeds can invade pastures and range land reducing viability. Weed seeds can be transported in the fur of livestock and in manure. Even more importantly, many of Montana state-listed weeds are toxic to animals.

The Montana Weed Control Association (MWCA) is a member-supported non-profit organization.

MWCA members are dedicated to terrestrial and aquatic invasive species management. Our members include professional weed managers representing many government agencies, private and commercial applicators, non-governmental organizations and concerned citizens.

Our goal is to facilitate long-term, ecologically based, integrated noxious weed management programs throughout Montana.
