Rush Skeletonweed Found in Beaverhead County in Several Locations

Beaverhead County has found 6 locations of rush skeletonweed this summer. Four have been found along the interstate from Kidd to Monida, one within the Alder Creek Fire area and the other in the Trail Creek Fire area. Mark Andreason, Mike Bradeen and crew from Lincoln County came down to help Amber Burch, Beaverhead County Weed Coordinator, look for more plants. Jason Allen and Erik Waldemar of MDT helped search on the interstate and Josh Wagoner with MDA also came to help look for plants in the fire areas.
With all of the wild fires across Montana and the region this summer (and in the past), weed managers will have to be vigilant about monitoring for new invaders in fire areas after crews from all over the nation have come to help assist on those fires.
