Governor Veto’s Bill to Add Dollars to the Trust Fund

Montana Governor Gianforte has vetoed the Senate Bill 167 which would have provided 10 million in additional dollars to the Montana Noxious Weed Trust Fund. The bill was sent to the legislature for vote and there needs to be a 2/3 vote “For” from each house for an override of the veto.  In looking at the vote and with polls closing on June 4th, it appears that there were not enough votes to override the veto. There will be no additional funding to the Trust Fund at this time. Sad news for the noxious weed management world.

SB 167 Veto Vote as of June 4, 2025
