It’s Time to Make Someone(s) Shine! MWCA Awards are Needed!

In the noxious weed realm, we sadly, do a poor job of recognizing our successes. We see how much improvement we may have made, but we forgot to take “before” photos. We forget those who we come across in the season and the wonderful job they’ve done or the passion they displayed.

Well, now is your chance to help us recognize those in our industry who deserve a pat on the back! MWCA has the following award categories: Non-agency Weed Fighter of the Year, Agency Weed Fighter of the Year, Outstanding Weed District, Outstanding Cooperative Weed Management Area (CWMA) and the Barb Mullin Lifetime Achievement Award. The details of each of these awards can be found on this website under resources/awards.

The MWCA Board of Directors has recently worked on brainstorming ways to enhance and elevate the noxious weed message and one of the very best ways we can do this is to showcase our successes as weed managers in Montana. Nominations can be made by anyone and it doesn’t take much time. A nomination form (with awards criteria) can be found here.

If you know of someone or an organization, a business or agency that deserves this pat on the back, please consider taking a moment to nominate them. The MWCA Awards Ceremony will be on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, right before the Kenn Kington Comedy Hour at our annual conference.

If you have any questions on who has been nominated previously, please email Becky at mwca@mtweed.org. Weed Districts can not be nominated if they have won this award within the past 5 years .  Current Awards History can be found here.
