The Wheatland County Weed District, under the direction of Gary Olsen has recently identified, collected, pressed, labeled and mounted eight new noxious weeds for each county and reservation in the state of Montana.

Marilyn and Gary Olsen show their noxious weed collection. The couple collects weeds each summer for county displays so producers can identify the ones that plague their farms and ranches.
Marilyn was responsible for collecting the following noxious weed this year which includes: Eurasian watermilfoil, Yellowflag iris, Blueweed, Sulfur cinquefoil, Japanese Knotweed complex, Rush skeletonweed and leafy spurge with biological agents.
These samples are to be used by the general public for educational use. Schools, recreational
groups, agricultural agencies and groups and sportsman groups are examples of who have used these mounts so far throughout the state.
The set for Wheatland County is currently on display at the Wheatland County Court House. If you would like to use a set for a program call your county weed supervisor for arrangements. In Wheatland County call Gary Olsen 632-4138. In Meagher County call weed supervisor Otto Ohlson 547-3612, in Furgus County call weed supervisor Jim Sparks 535-3970.
