Wetland Plant Identification Workshop

Description:

The Montana Natural Heritage is pleased to offer several 1-day wetland plant identification workshops this summer. These field-based workshops will be held in several geographic areas around the state and will be offered free of charge to attendees. The target audience for these workshops include; biologists and managers from federal and state agencies and Non Government Organizations (NGO's), tribal biologists and managers, local government planners, private consultants, and others who work with wetland vegetation and issues of wetland management.

 

The courses will be designed to provide the basic skills required to identify Montana's common wetland plant genera (Carex, Juncus, Salix) and species, including invasive plants, and will be tailored to accommodate the plants common to the specific geographic area of the individual workshop.

Level of detail presented may also vary based on the knowledge and interest of participants at each workshop location. Information related to the biology and ecology of individual wetland plant species will also be covered. Each workshop will be limited to a maximum of 20 participants and will be filled, in part, on a first come, first serve basis with priority given to representatives from federal, state, local and tribal agencies and NGO's.

5th Annual Bitterroot Floating Weed Pull

Description:

Enjoy a day floating the scenic Bitterroot River while enhancing the river ecosystem.  If floating the river and helping the environment aren't enough of a reason to attend then come along to enjoy to lunch and win some prizes afterwards.  We have $1750 worth of prizes to give away to participants.
